I thank you for standing up for the Filipinos at a time when no one else would, for fighting oppression and tyranny and celebrating freedom and democracy.
I thank you for being a faithful servant of God, a loving wife to your husband, a courageous and doting mother to your children – for being the example we needed before, now and in the future. And most of all, for being unselfish and for sacrificing your peace and life for the Filipinos.
I have not been as lucky as the people who were there when it all happened, when you fought for us. But my parents were there; my aunts and uncles, my elder cousins and most of the people whom I most treasure were witnesses and beneficiaries of your strength and principles. What you did for these people, you did for me and for the next generations to come.
You deserve the peoples’ love and respect and to lie in our memories, in our remaining years, as we continue to uphold the battle for freedom, that you once led.
May the heavens welcome you in the most lavish way and reward you for taking in your hands the welfare of so many people and for doing so in the most selfless way one could ever imagine.
