Desperate indeed! October 7, 2007

Are these writers, or whatever they should be called, even doing their research?
As of post time, the American community is significantly leaning on the supposed crappy Philippine medical system for doctors, nurses and caregivers. And this was predicted to continue as Filipinos in the field become more and more in demand as there exists a severe shortage of them in foreign countries, including the United States. Now, what was Teri Hatcher saying?
I couldn’t believe that an international broadcast company such as ABC, who is not even on the verge of losing, would stoop down to such shameful strategy of throwing derogatory statements in the expense of another community for a stupid attempt to humor intelligently.
Well, who’s laughing now? I mean, not only are they going to lose a lot of their viewers, Filipinos (good thing I do not watch this crap) and those who believe that racism has no place in this world, but more importantly – ABC and Desperate Housewives together now become a clear picture of nonsense television.
And I am not even talking about their poor story plot of four bored women, doing god knows what!
What hurts me most is not their dim-witted perception of what medical schools in this country are all about. It is that people like Teri Hatcher and the racist writers of one desperate TV show make the fact that this country has been continuously losing world-class medical people to countries such as US – even more regretful. While we have been suffering from brain-drain, these people take pride of that fact and graciously rub it in our faces. How dare them!
We may have our own say about imperfections in this country, but desperate American TV shows erroneously stating them is another story.
